Cheadle FC vs Oooze FC

Recap

Despite recent troubles with fielding a side, Cheadle FC have stayed in the running for the title after they got back to winning ways (just) against El Caliente last week. Oooze haven’t picked up a point since the opening day, and look set for a season in the Championship, despite giving most teams a good game on their day. If matches were 40 minutes long they would probably have more points……

They took the lead here as Luke Knowles scored in the second minute, but that lead lasted just 5 minutes before Evan Farrell levelled things up for Cheadle. After Daniel Kitch had given them the lead in the 14th minute, they looked to have killed the game off with three goals in three minutes just before the break, Kitch with his second, followed by goals from Adam Taylor and Harry Williams. Olson Haley pulled one back for Oooze on the stroke of half time to give them a glimmer of hope going into the second period.

When Phil Parker grabbed the first goal of the second half for them the deficit was down to two, but Taylor’s second of the game, followed by another two for Williams eased Cheadle into a comfortable lead again. When Taylor scored Cheadle’s 9th 9 minutes from time it was game over, and while Parker and Knowles scored two more for Oooze, Taylor and Kitch match that for Cheadle to give them a fairly comfortable win that sees them join J Stands on 9 points in the race for the title.
