Dench FC vs Exeter Gently

Recap

Funny season for Dench, after getting off to a flyer with two wins, they then had to wait until the 9th game of the season for their third win. Exeter have generally struggled throughout, and will be playing their football in the third tier next season.

It couldn’t come soon enough for them, judging by the opening half, as three George Eaton goals, two from James Newton and Phil Carroll, and one each from Harvey Ashton and Dan Jones, against just the one for James Magnani for Exeter gave Dench a 9-1 half time lead.

That became 11-1 in the opening 10 minutes of the second half as Eaton grabbed another couple, before Magnani with two and Sam Wharton pulled it back to 11-4. Shockingly there was no miraculous comeback, so despite Wharton, Magnani and Tom Berry scoring for Exeter in the last 5 minutes, Jones and Carroll also scored for Dench in that time to seal a comfortable last day victory.
